Jan Gorjanc Daniso is a discerning musician who holds Bachelor's degrees in Harp and Composition from the Royal College of Music in London (UK). He is currently undertaking Master's degrees in both Orchestral Conducting and Choral Conducting at the Conservatorio G. Tartini in Trieste, Italy.
He has been the recipient of several accolades as a choral conductor, including gold and silver prizes at international choral competitions, second place in the Grand Prix, first place within vocal ensembles, an award for the best performed piece, a special prize for a talented conductor, and more. In his capacity as an orchestral conductor, he has conducted a number of orchestras and ensembles, including the North Czech Symphony Orchestra with operatic soloists.
Furthermore has performed in a number of esteemed venues in London, including Buckingham Palace, the Royal Festival Hall, Cadogan Hall, and other locations as an orchestral harpist. Gorjanc has showcased his soloistic abilities with the RTV Symphony Orchestra of Slovenia in the Gallus Hall of Cankarjev Dom Ljubljana, the studios of RTV Slovenia and Barocco Hall in the Radovljica Manner House. In terms of solo recitals, he performed at the Club of Cankarjev Dom, St. James' Church, Ammarylys Flemming Concert Hall and other venues.
Gorjanc's opus as a composer comprises, among other vocal and instrumental pieces, three staged operas. The most recent of which was commissioned and performed by the Slovenian National Opera in Ljubljana. His inaugural opera was premiered in Cadogan Hall, while his choral composition Te dan je usega vese'ja! was awarded second place and performed by APZ Tone Tomšič in Ljubljana.
He currently serves as the conductor and artistic director of the Female Choir Petrol and the Mixed Choir Musica Viva Kranj, Primskovo. He previously held a similar role with Grudnove Šmikle, but was obliged to relinquish this due to the necessity of fulfilling his current academic commitments. He is responsible for the organisation and execution of at least two full evening concerts per year with each choir. Furthermore, he organised special concerts, such as "Povežimo bregove", which was performed by all three choirs and opera soloists and took place to benefit the victims of the August 2023 Slovenian floods.
